I'm Sheliza and I write the AfternoonMusing blog. Often I catch myself pondering topics and subject matter that randomly arrest my attention. So much so that I will start researching the topic in an attempt to learn as much as I can about it and the divergent views that may exist on it. Once I am comfortable with the topic, I will start sharing with those closest to me all that I have learned. I like to think you, my lovely reader, have now joined my closest circle.
This idea has been germinating in my mind for the past 6 months and has finally broken free and escaped onto the platform here. In an attempt to catalogue and share what I learn, this space will be the home for my many musings. Many have inspired me on this journey to learn more about the world we live in and the people who are our global brethren. I hope that here, you will be inspired to learn about a new topic or join a cause or simply find an escape from the everyday to connect with others. We will talk about potentially sensitive matters, but I'm not a big believer in being overly sensitive in how I word things when important matters require attention - it is what it is. I hope you will join me on this open and honest forum and get involved anyway. I know we will be friends.
Prior to undertaking this venture, I worked in an international emergency relief agency developing guidelines on addressing and alleviating emergency and crisis situations as experienced by refugees and internally displaced persons. I have a Masters degree in Globalization and an all-consuming interest in matters of international development from the perspective of social consciousness. I am an avid learner and look forward to sharing all that I learn.
